DCAT Mobile is the term used for the DriveABLE Cognitive Assessment Tool. This is the first part of a two-part assessment process.
The DCAT Mobile is administered on a tablet-based platform using touch-screen technology. The participant (driver) is guided through engaging, game-like tasks. There is no age limit and no digital tablet experience is necessary.
The DCAT Mobile tests the cognitive skills needed for safe driving. During the in-office assessment, participants are presented with four tasks that provide insight into actual on-road performance. The DCAT Mobile is the most accurate cognitive assessment tool available to predict driving performance.
Typically, the DCAT Mobile takes less than an hour to complete.
Please note there is a scheduled thirty-minute break between the first part (DCAT Mobile) and the second part (DORE) of the assessment procedure.
We do not send your DriveABLE assessment results to the DMV or to any auto insurance carrier.
-
DORE is the term used for the DriveABLE On-Road evaluation.
The DORE is the second and final part of the driving assessment.
DORE is a specialized functional on-road evaluation scientifically validated to identify safe driving. DORE provides a fair and objective assessment identifying cognitive behaviors and not bad habit errors that can be common amongst experienced drivers.
The driver has an opportunity to demonstrate their driving abilities in real-time and in real conditions. A DriveABLE Certified Driver Evaluator accompanies the driver. An evaluator vehicle is provided with dual controls (brake and gas). The driver is guided through the road course.
DORE is designed for experienced drivers and takes less than an hour to complete.
A valid Driver's License is required. If you or the driver has a suspension or revocation of driver's license, please let us know at the time of scheduling. We will provide information on how to apply for a Special Permit through the DMV Driver Safety Office.
The DORE is not like the DMV Road Test.
We do not send your DriveABLE assessment results to the DMV or to any auto insurance carrier.

The reality is that driving is a privilege and not a right. We all have a community responsibility to safeguard and protect ourselves, our loved ones, and other road users to minimize the risk of a vehicle collision, or tragically, a fatality.
